FIDS Italia

FIDS is the acronym for Federazione Italiana Danza Sportiva, the institution responsible for organizing and regulating both individual and team dance competition in Italy. It’s the only one recognized by CONI and operates in various sectors: international, national (ballroom dances), regional, academic dances.. but also ethnic dances, choreographic, street and Paralympic dances.

FIDS is based in Rome and, according to its statute, the institution aims to:

• Promote in all the Italian territory, the practice of dance, regulating competitions;
• Representing the Italian sport ad International competition;
• Exalt loyalty, honesty and fairness, the three basic sport’s values;
• Ensure that athletes do not use illicit substances to alter their performances;
• Combat any discrimination and encourage the inclusion of athletes with disabilities.

In addition to promoting and organizing competitions, FIDS awards, every year, the champion titles for each speciality foreseen by the statute and chooses the athletes for the European championship.

Federazione Italiana Danza Sportiva

Not only competitions, FIDS also is in the teaching field. The institution organizes activities in order to teaching dance for private and public institution, trying to promote everything at national level. From 2014 FIDS has also a Federal School, for the training of Federal technicians.
