Caribbean dances: what they are
Caribbean dances are one of the disciplines recognized by CONI and professional dancers compete in national and international competitions organized by Federazione Italiana Danza Sportiva. There are three main dances:
- Salsa
- Merengue
- Bachata
Caribbean dances are a mix of sensuality, happiness and catchy rhythm and are easier to learn than latin american ones. For this reason, they’re very popular in dance schools and are danced by people of all ages.
The main difference between caribbean and latin dances, is the feeling while dancing. On the one hand, lightheartedness and transport, on the other a deep concentration and feeling with the partner. The movements are substantially very different: latin dances are heavily based on sensuality, while the Caribbean ones are more relaxed and tend to follow the rhythm of the music.
